LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (October 27, 2025) – A Los Angeles childcare worker identified as Miguel Gonzalez was arrested on charges that he was in possession of child pornography.

Los Angeles County officials are saying that the arrest took place on Friday. Miguel Gonzalez, a 28-year-old man from Las Vegas, was employed at various schools and after-school programs across Los Angeles County.

LAPD officials indicate that the defiant is suspected of abusing at least one child. Moreover, public records reveal that he is listed as chief executive of “Let’s Play LA.” Upon his arrest, Let’s Play LA indicated that all events and activities were immediately suspended.

Authorities are concerned that there may be additional minor victims. Anyone that may have more information about the actions of Miguel Gonzalez should contact law enforcement immediately.

A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Los Angeles County Child Sexual Abuse

It is illegal for any person in California to possess child sexual abuse material, according to California Penal Code §311.1(a). Pursuant to the statute, any person caught with this material “shall be punished either by imprisonment in the county jail for up to one year, by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment, or by imprisonment in the state prison, by a fine not to exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by the fine and imprisonment.” It is important that schools take certain measures to protect children from child predators.

  • Schools should utilize strict hiring practices.
  • Schools should have anonymous reporting mechanisms to uncover misconduct.
  • Schools should thoroughly investigate all allegations of misconduct.
  • Schools must properly monitor students at all times of the day.

If a teacher or other employee sexually exploits children by creating sexual abuse material, the school that employed them could be held vicariously liable. Schools have a legal obligation to protect students from foreseeable sources of harm. This requires that all students are properly supervised at all portions of the day. If a school knew or should have known that a worker posed a risk of harm to students and failed to take action, this could be construed as negligence.

Steps to Take After Los Angeles County Child Sexual Abuse

Child sexual abuse and exploitation remain alarmingly common and have been particularly problematic in Los Angeles. This has led to numerous lawsuits and settlements. According to The Guardian, “In April, Los Angeles county approved a historic $4bn settlement with about 11,000 claimants and allegations of sexual abuse in LA juvenile facilities that dated back decades.” Victims of child sexual abuse and their parents should take certain measures to protect their legal rights.

  • Police: The abuse should be reported to the police as soon as possible. The police can begin a formal investigation and take steps to hold the perpetrator criminally responsible.
  • Medical Records: All medical records related to the abuse should be collected and preserved.
  • School Records: If any abuse involves school employees, all of the records related to the defendant should be sought.
  • Legal Review: The family of any child who has been sexually exploited by a school official should carefully consider all of their legal options with an experienced school sexual abuse attorney.

Sexual abuse in a school setting is often highly preventable. Indeed, by the time any school employee is arrested, there are usually many red flags that were missed. To make matters worse, schools will virtually never accept responsibility if one of their workers abuses students. This is why it is so important to consider hiring an attorney. An attorney can examine the unique facts of your case free of cost and let you know what your legal options are.
