LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (August 28, 2023) – Three women identified as Veronica Amezola, Juvelyn Arroyo and Kimberly Izquierdo were killed in a South Los Angeles Uber car accident.
Los Angeles County police officials are saying that the collision took place around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday. Veronica Amezola, Juvelyn Arroyo, Kimberly Izquierdo and a man were passengers in an Uber.
Their vehicle was traveling through the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and West Century Boulevard. A driver in a Mercedes-Benz ran a red light and t-boned the Uber in the intersection.
The force of the impact caused one passenger to be ejected. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene in order to help all of the victims.
A male passenger and the 38-year-old female Uber driver were both taken to nearby hospitals in critical condition. Sadly, Veronica Amezola, Juvelyn Arroyo and Kimberly Izquierdo all died due to their injuries.
Two of the victims are reported to be sisters. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz involved in the crash has been arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter.
