Arminta Street Elementary School (LAUSD) Subject To Possible Lawsuits After Teacher Is Convicted On Molestation Charges
Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is facing yet another sexual abuse lawsuit. The latest civil lawsuit is filed against the school system on behalf of female victims who attend or have attended Arminta Street Elementary School. The lawsuit focuses on the conducts of an after school coach and teacher John Salinas, who is known as “Coach John” amongst the students.
Salinas was investigated and arrested for molesting little girls who attended Arminta Street Elementary School. He is alleged to have touched girls’ buttocks and poked their vaginal areas. On January 22, 2016, he was charged with multiple counts of lewd acts with minors and molesting minors (under Penal Code Sections 288(A) and 647.6(A)(1). Salinas was ultimately convicted on these charges on May 24, 2016. He received 270 days of jail time with 5 years of formal probation and has to register as a sex offender.
Luis Carrillo and Michael Carrillo, are handling these claims. This case comes on the heels of $88 million in settlements being paid to 47 plaintiffs in another LAUSD case. The Carrillos are currently accepting and investigating other individuals who may have been victims.
