REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA (July 8, 2025) – An AYSO soccer coach identified as Jared Crevar is facing charges related to child sexual abuse.

Los Angeles Police Department officials are saying that the defendant was arrested on May 1. Authorities are alleging that Jared Crevar was in possession of more than 600 images of child pornography.

He is also accused of attempting to have sex with a minor. LAPD investigators are concerned with the possibility that there may be additional victims.

They are asking anyone in the public with more information to come forward. A full investigation into the alleged misconduct of Jared Crevar remains ongoing.

Liability for Los Angeles County Child Sexual Abuse

Sexual misconduct involving teachers and school coaches remains remarkably common. According to the Journal of Child Sexual Abuse, “Abuse in the athletic community has been largely hidden; however, recent media reports have revealed problems in a number of different U.S. sports. USA Swimming (USAS) was engulfed in scandal when a Southern California News Group investigation revealed numerous cases of sexual misconduct of various forms by adult authority figures with at least 590 alleged victims (Reid, 2018).” Schools should take several measures to protect students from sexual misconduct.

  • Screening Practices: Schools should conduct comprehensive background checks on all teachers, coaches, and faculty.
  • Training: Schools should train all faculty to identify and report signs that sexual abuse is taking place. They should establish a clear code of conduct.
  • Zero Tolerance: Schools should take all allegations of misconduct seriously and remove any teachers or coaches as investigations occur.

Schools have a legal obligation to protect students from foreseeable sources of harm. This requires that schools rigorously enforce all rules and regulations necessary to keep children safe. If school officials have actual or constructive notice that a teacher or coach poses a risk of harm to students, they must act. Allowing a dangerous individual to have continued access to children could form the basis of a negligence claim. It is critical that evidence is properly preserved after any instance of sexual abuse involving school coaches.

  • School Records: All school records related to any coach accused of misconduct should be sought. It is fairly common for assailants to be the subject of numerous complaints.
  • Medical Records: All records related to physical or psychological injuries should be preserved.
  • Communication: All communication between the perpetrator and the victim should be examined.

It can be hard to know where to begin after any instance of sexual misconduct involving school officials. Students and parents place a great deal of trust in teachers and coaches. Having that trust violated can be absolutely devastating. To make matters worse, schools will often do everything in their power to avoid accountability when one of their students is abused. This is where a school sexual abuse attorney can help. An attorney can investigate misconduct and take steps to hold school districts accountable for their negligence.
