Jane B.M. Doe v. El Monte Union High School District $5,000,000 Verdict
Attorneys Luis Carrillo, Michael Carrillo and Xena Mashburn secure a $5 million verdict against El Monte Union High School District
We are proud to announce that attorneys with the Carrillo Law Firm were able to secure a $5 million dollar verdict against the El Monte Union High School District on behalf of a former Arroyo High School student who was sexually abused by a former teacher when she was a minor. Jane Doe was a student at Arroyo High School when she was molested by a former science teacher in 2013 when she was 14 /15 years old, and again in 2015 when she was 17. She sued the school district for negligently supervising a teacher who had been accused in prior years of molesting his students while at a different high school school in the same district. “The message from the community through the jury is that you failed. You failed the kids and you betrayed the trust that the kids had in the school,” attorney Luis Carrillo said. The school district was found 40% at fault and therefore will be liable to Jane Doe for $2 million of the total $5 million in damages.
