Mother Charged With Murder Tried To Reach Out For Help

Mother Sought Out Mental Assistance Before Killing One Child and Almost Killing Her Other

Lorna Valle, 32, of South Los Angeles sought psychiatric assistance from multiple facilities before allegedly drowning one child and almost drowning her second child, family Attorney Luis Carrillo stated on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Valle was charged on Friday with murder and attempted murder for allegedly shoving his daughters face first into their South LA bathtub home.

“Since January the family had been trying to seek medical and psychological help for her and were turned away…They went to six different medical facilities. They waited once about 8 hours to talk to a psychologist. Eventually the psychologist did not see her.”

Valle’s husband, Jose Lopez, said there were videos of his wife falling in hospitals and that she was only given prescriptions but never treated.
